Overview
The ROG Polling Rate Booster is a USB device that increases the polling rate of a compatible device. The Rate Booster, boosts the polling rate from 1000Hz (1000 times a second) all the way up to 8000Hz.
The Rate Booster works with compatible wired and wireless devices, and ROG claim that when used with their SuperNova Wireless technology they can reduce input latency to as little as 0.25ms.
Why Use it
Like everything in the competitive gaming field, response times are a factor in winning or losing. Simply put the quicker your inputs are registered and transmitted the more of an edge you have.
The quicker response time also has an impact when you have a high refresh rate monitor. For example an 240hz or higher monitor will be able to benefit from the lower latency/higher polling rate of the mouse or keyboard.
It is important to your device and the Rate Booster should be within 60cm of each other. This is to maximise signal integrity, and avoid interference for other devices that might work on the same frequency, as the superNova wireless technology uses RF 2.4GHz. The same as Wifi and many other wireless technologies. It would be advisable to plug the Rate Booster into the PC on a dedicated port, and avoid using a USB hub.
